Bon Voyage New Orleans!

May See Yang

Hello readers!

In mid-April I traveled to New Orleans for the first for work! The moment I stepped out of the airport, the humidity hit me in the face. I was there for a total of three days and they truly went by quickly. Due to work and traveling with my coworker and her baby daughter, we only had a limited time to explore the city. We mainly explored along the Canal Street and then the New Orleans City Park. We gratefully had a friend who showed us around as well.

It has been well over a year since I traveled with my Canon DSLR. I was looking forward to photographing my travels again. Typically I like to travel light for a short trip. When traveling with a DSLR, I have to decide which lens I'm bringing, and then pack the necessary battery chargers. I packed my 35mm lens and 24-105mm lens. That's mainly it.

Dining and checking out different restaurants is a must when traveling. I absolutely loved the vintage archicture of New Orleans, however I didn't get to explore more of it. Southern and Creole cuisine were definitely flavorful and distinct.

More street photography.

The next set of photos are ones I took for work. This is the first time I've used my DSLR for the ballroom and they suprisingly turned out better than I expected. I am wonderfully satisfied and take so much pride in these beautiful captures! I am proud to say that the dancers in these photos are my colleagues and they are simply inspiring!

The rest of the photos from this trip covers the Audobon Aquarium and the New Orleans Botanical Garden. The aquarium was fun and had some highlights. The botanical garden was everything and more than I expected. While there, we were able to take a few headshots for my colleague, Emily. Being there felt like a playground and felt like I could stay there forever just photographing every crook and cranny. It is truly so beautiful and vibrant.

Jellyfishes are literally my favorite thing to photograph! One day, if I could get a chance to be an underwater photographer along with jellyfishes, that would make my entire life.

Here in the butterfly room is where one rested on my camera. It was an unexplainable and beautiful moment.

The rest of these photos were taken at the botanical garden.

One of my favorite highlights was th Japanese Garden. It is so well thought out, secluded and tranquil.

Lastly, my most favorite moment was spending time under these Japanese orange maple trees! No words can describe how I felt so I will let these photos speak for themselves.

That is all from my wonderful trip! I hope you enjoyed these photos just as much as I did! I know I didn't get to explore more of New Orleans like I initially planned. I definitely want to come back and get a taste of jazz! Thank you reading my New Orleans trip! I can't wait to share more of my travels again soon.

With love, May See.
