Dilians & Quan

Hello my dear readers!

Today's wonderful blog post is about my dear friends who are engaged! Should I give you a backstory?! Quan is my college friend starting back in 2010. He was the President of the Asian Student Union and I became his Secretary. He was a film student and we shared a passionate interest in film, still to this day! After graduation, he left to California to pursue his film dreams. We kept in contact throughout the years. Then I was super happy to hear he found... Dilians!

Dilians and I met each other through video chat initially, but when we met each other in person... It felt like I knew her all along. I enjoyed getting to know her and their wonderful relationship throughout the years. Therefore, I was incredibly honored when they asked me to capture their part two of their engagement.

What makes this photo session so special is they decided to do this in his hometown, Oshkosh. He wanted to shoot during a sunrise in the winter. Something that Quan holds dearest. Nothing compares to the crisp, chilly air of Wisconsin.

We have planned this session for over a year and when you want something done in the winter, you never know what kind of weather you will get. Thankfully, this year's winter hasn't been brutal yet. I drove to Oshkosh from Milwaukee on a foggy morning. We definitely didn't expect the fog but I am glad this worked out because of how beautiful and serene the scenery was and how beautiful this all turned out.

It truly was a beautiful, quiet morning with the sounds of ice sheets forming and crashing into each other. It is definitely a phenomenon you need to experience. I wish I could have just sat and took in the moment but I had a photoshoot to finish and friends to hang out with.

Back to the photoshoot, Dilians and Quan were quite natural models. Their love was so evident and genuine through their affectionate gestures for each other. I just let them be themselves as much as possible.

Overall, I am happy at how clean, crisp, and beautiful these photos turned out and they loved them. I like this style a lot. I like adding the grain effect because it makes the whole set more like film. Which is you know.. my favorite type of photography.

We had a great time and I would love to do this photoshoot over and over again. Again, thank you for having me Dilians & Quan! Happy engagement and I am looking forward to the next chapter of your lives together. May your love for each other continue to bloom.

Thank you all for reading and please enjoy the rest of the photos!

With love, May See.
